Wolverine...and lil sis

Maddox had some money to spend the last time we were at Target. He wanted to get a Wolverine claw.

I tried to talk him out of it. What would he do with it? Wouldn't it get old quick? But it was his money, and he insisted he wanted it. He was right...I was wrong. It's been quite the favorite thing around here. He loves this claw, and now wants to save up more money to buy a second claw. Because the boy in the commercial has a claw on each hand and does cool flips. I explained that a second Wolverine claw wouldn't give him the ability to do flips...and he assured me that the boy just already knew how to do flips. ;-)

So I took some pics of him enjoying his Wolverine claw earlier this week...

Happy EARTH Day!

In honor of Earth Day, I would like to share some images of a different nature...pictures that feature a subject with beautiful long limbs and amazing strength. ;-)

These images were taken of one special tree, by special request, last September. I had never before focused all of my attention on one single tree. It was an interesting experience, definitely eye-opening to focus on all the little details that you might otherwise never notice. Anyways, hopefully my fellow treehuggers will enjoy...

Liberty Memorial

It had been a long time since I just wandered the Liberty Memorial, taking pics for fun. So I spent a little extra time hanging around after my session last weekend to explore and randomly shoot whatever caught my eye.

My favorites...

Liberty 01

Liberty 02

I tried to play around a little with the glass roof to the museum, catching reflections.

Liberty 03

Liberty 04

I almost fell down some steps after shooting this lamppost. Well, I'm not gonna lie...I did actually fall down one step but caught myself before totally wiping out or worse...dropping my camera! I tried to pretend it didn't happen...but I'm sure someone must have seen my lack of grace and had a good laugh at me. :-P

My FAVORITE shot...I'm crazy for this one. I love abstract stuff...and I really like how this one kind of sucks you into the frame. I'll be finding somewhere in my home to display - I'm thinking it would be a cool canvas...

I thought it was neat that you could see the tower through the transparent banner...

Chris + Crystal...Family Portraits

Yesterday I met Chris and Crystal to capture some lovely portraits with their kiddos. It was a glorious day - such a nice break from this crazy weather. Crystal did an excellent job dressing everyone - beautiful bright colors. They looked fantastic!

Here are some of my favs...

An Eggcellent Mess!

Evey's first time coloring Easter eggs! I remember last year, Maddox and I colored eggs while Evey stared at her hands in amazement hanging out in the Jumperoo. How far she has come! My instincts told me to set up a little table outside since it was a nice day and this was bound to be a messy project. But I thought I might be over-reacting and we stayed inside. Next year...outdoors! Weather permitting of course. Jay enjoyed pointing out the 5+ age on the box. But you can't NOT color Easter eggs until you are 5 years old!

Anyways, things started well enough. We were showing them how to use the tools to dip the eggs in the cups...

However, not surprisingly, Evey couldn't keep her hands off the eggs.

And while Maddox was working hard at using the proper utensils to remove the eggs...

eggs 04

...we couldn't keep them from practically throwing eggs into the cups causing a good deal of splashing. We decided to switch Evey to stamping eggs, hoping this would be a slightly neater way for her to go about decorating her eggs.

We were so focused on Evey...being that she seemed to be the bigger loose cannon at the table. So we were quite surprised to look over and see that Maddox had given up on the assigned utensils, too much work and they were slowing him down.

It took about 5 hand washings and a bath...but I think his skin is back to its original color now.

eggs 10

This is probably just a mom shot...but he looks so big to me here chewing gum and casually coloring eggs. He used to get so excited! He was still enjoying the process this year...but with a more "big kid" demeanor.

And because big brother was showing off his messy hands...

Looks like stamping wasn't all that tidy either. ;-)
In the end there were a lot of spills and we went through a lot of papertowels. A lot. But we also had a lot of fun. Messy messy fun.

Cathy + Dave...Engagement Portraits

Finally! Today I was able to spend some time with Cathy & Dave to create their engagement portraits. We have been battling crazy weather and illnesses which resulted in several postponements. So fourth time is a charm! And in the nick of time since they will be getting married in early May. ;-)

So let's take a look at some of my favorite photos from the session.
VOTE for your favorite in the Comments section below! Cathy & Dave will receive a free 8x10 of the most popular image.

We started off including their son (Daniel) and dog (Max) for a few family portraits...

I had to get a shot of Max waiting for us amongst the Easter eggs. We had to vacate this area when we saw the kids coming. I'm pretty sure these eggs would have been safe with Max around to guard them. ;-)
